THE BONDS OF BROTHERHOOD

When we talk about BROTHERHOOD, we are asking you to start by questioning what stereotypical, surface definitions of this word typically mean.

This isn’t about watching football, grabbing a beer with the guys, inflating each others’ egos, and acting like teenagers. That’s just institutionalized immaturity that many people learn to pass off as brotherhood.

We are even asking you to delve deeper than the across-the-board definition of brotherhood that is forged through MIL/LE service. While there’s no denying that rigorous processes of training and selection create a brotherhood that isn’t accessible by any other means, even those relationships can vary in depth dependent upon the presence of shared faith.

True BROTHERHOOD, in its highest form, is a Biblical principle. A mutual connection of accountability in the faith. A brother is someone who can walk into your house and hold you accountable in your own home for your actions with your children if they’re not to a Christlike standard. Someone who would step in and feed your children if you died today. A person with whom you share mutual trust to hold one another accountable to Biblical standards daily.

Philippians 2:25 captures the key elements of this bond. When Paul sends Epaphroditus to deliver his letter to the Philippians, he characterizes Epaphroditus in 3 critical ways:

• Brother: a fellow believer in Christ
• Coworker: a teammate, diligently serving Christ alongside Paul
• Fellow Soldier: a warrior for Christ

“Meanwhile, I thought I should send Epaphroditus back to you. He is a true brother, coworker, and fellow soldier. And he was your messenger to help me in my need.” – Philippians 2:25 (NLT)

Also emphasized here is that a brother is someone Paul can trust as a messenger for him, standing in for him at his time of need – showing full alignment of values and deep unwavering trust between them.

Be aware of the people closest to you, in your inner circle, influencing you and impacting your life. It is hard to come together in brotherhood if you’re not aligned in faith and values. Hold those virtuous relationships in the highest regard. 

One day, everything around us will pass away. The best and most meaningful gift we are asked to steward in this life is our relationship with our families, if we have been called to provide for a spouse and children. It is why you will rarely if ever find our team without our families close by. There is no higher purpose that we could serve with our time on this earth. And a brother is someone who walks that path alongside you, as you strengthen and edify each other towards your ultimate goals.

If unspeakable tragedy has taught us one thing in life, it is to look up to God with the prayer to find meaning and purpose in the lessons He is trying to show you. We firmly believe that sharing this message with you is a part of our calling on this earth, and it is why we have made it central to the mission of our company.
